Voltaire designers have imagined a practical smart bike equipped with an electronic security system to deter theft.
With more than 500,000 units sold in France in 2020, the FEET (electrically assisted bicycle) attracts more and more fans. Yet in big cities some people struggle to get through. One of the reasons ? Fear of theft, identified as one of the first obstacles to purchasing an electric bike. To release this brake, Voltaire offers an electronic system consisting of an NFC badge to lock and unlock the bike, an alarm that goes off if the locked bike is moved and a geolocation system to find your bike or share its position with the authorities in the event of theft. Added to this is a mechanical wheel lock, safety complement to the classic U and chains. Furthermore, tailor-made insurance negotiated with Allianz covers theft and breakage. “We have put user safety first, just like that of the bicycle. It meets the requirements of the city while promoting gentle mobility on a daily basis” indicate Gabriel and Grégoire, founders of Voltaire.
A chic and retro design
Unlike many electric bikes, Voltaire's removable battery is discreet, hidden in the seat post and completely invisible to those who are not paying attention. A wise choice compared to bikes which proudly display their battery on their luggage rack or their frame. Categorized smart bike, Voltaire has an anti-reflective screen integrated into the stem allowing the user to follow the main information of their journey (vitesse, assistance, battery level, mileage…). Daily, Voltaire can be used with or without a smartphone thanks to NFC badge unlocking. Settings are made via a dedicated application (iOS et Android). The user can thus manage the assistance mode, the brightness of its lights and monitor all its usage statistics. Voltaire is available in three colors.
