An offensive return

Important news and a look at the progress traveled combine at the start of the 2022 school year for many companies. The Indian Ocean Wine Company (Covino) has just launched a new product which, déjà, makes a date : a range of premium metropolitan wines marketed under a label asserting its Reunion identity, Paille-en-Queue. At the same time, Covino, which owns the Nicolas master franchise in our Indian Ocean zone, celebrates the exceptional longevity of the famous brand : 200 ans ! Other anniversaries add depth to the news : 60 years of Piton des Neiges, 20 years of Mascadis, 30 years of Initiative Réunion… But let’s return to the Paille-en-Queue event. Sommelier by training and heart, David Cailleux, general director of Covino since 2020, brings to fruition with this project the move upmarket of the wines bottled by the Reunion bottling company. He explains to us how this project was born, how it fits into the history of the company born in 1954, how Paille-en-Queue clearly aims to exit the bottler profession, and hence the Covino team, of his anonymity behind the wine brands. But other events stand out. The Casabona shopping center in Saint-Pierre opens a new page in the commercial history of the island with its innovative design. For the first time, a shopping center is associated with an office operation in Reunion. A medium-sized space, open air, facilitating pedestrian access, taking particular care of its landscaped setting, both urban and radiating to the South and West.

We also highlight the name change of Bourbon Plastiques Emballage, became Bourbon Packaging, because it also makes a lot of sense. It highlights the local producer of most of the plastic shopping bags we use, which is now launching into the manufacture of paper bags. And it is a model company in terms of innovation and responsibility that is revealed : recycling pioneer, reusable bags, of local bioplastic production, and now some paper bags. All this and many other initiatives and new features make up this back-to-school issue of Leader Réunion with great editorial richness..
