If the agricultural unions made common cause with Tereos Indian Ocean in the motion addressed to the State at the beginning of November, they remain focused on an important deadline : that of the renegotiation of the cane convention. The text, the last version of which dates back to 2017, sets the rules of the game between sugar cane producers and the person who buys them, in this case Tereos. The new agreement must be signed in mid-2022. Agricultural unions (Young Farmers, FDSEA, UPNA and CGPER) decided to silence their old rivalries by announcing on November 8 that they were regrouping as an inter-union organization “in order to best prepare development strategies for the agricultural world and the major issues affecting our sectors”.
