The Joint Transport Union, renamed Reunion Island Mobilités since last year, presented on September 12 an application that public transport users will definitely download, but also carpooling enthusiasts, bike or scooter.
The “Île de La Réunion Mobilités” app brings together a set of services according to the Maas concept (mobility as a service), already deployed in several countries, including mainland France. All mobility organizing authorities send data relating to the circulation of their public transport vehicles., in real time for Car Jaune, Alternéo Kar’ouest and Carsud in theoretical timetables for Citalis and Estival, whose buses are not yet geolocatable by GPS.
The app has a bus and coach route calculation tool, but also by bike or scooter by integrating the Géovélo guidance service, and carpooling with the Karos service. Reunion Island Mobilités was developed by the company Instant System, Maas specialist, who notably created the mobility information system for the Île-de-France region.
Various other services are also available on the app : information on network disruptions, the location of carpool parking and bicycle parking, the availability of self-service bicycles in the stations. When presenting the application, Patrice Boulevart, president of the Joint Transport Union, announced the creation, in 2025, a single daily transport ticket, common to all networks on the island and which will cost 5 euros. It should also be possible to buy this title on your smartphone.
