The Mascarene food bank will soon offer mobile “cooking and nutrition” workshops, thanks to the vehicle she has just acquired, with the support of the departmental council and the GBH group : a truck equipped with a kitchen. Healthy and balanced dishes will be cooked there with the products usually distributed in the bank's food parcels.. These workshops will provide knowledge about food, nutritional needs and recommendations, while the people of Reunion buy 31% more fat than the inhabitants of France. The members of the BAM who will lead these workshops are currently being trained by nutritionists and professionals from the Omega clinic., which takes care of obesity, diabetes and nutritional disorders. This Porto establishment was created by Aurar, partner of the operation. The truck, baptisé Karavan Odhir, will also be able to host screening actions for chronic diseases Odhir (obesity, diabetes, hypertension, kidney failure), whose prevalence is particularly high in Réunion.
