These meetings are those of advertising and communication professionals. The first took place in Mauritius in September 2018, the second at Réunion in September 2019.
The Indian Ocean meetings are organized by the Francophone Union with the association of Indian Ocean communications consulting agencies.. The Francophone Union is a platform for exchanges in the field of communication and advertising creation within the French-speaking economic area.. Supported in particular by the Ministry of Culture, she considers the Reunion, with its fifty agencies, like a sort of hub. This is demonstrated by the move of its headquarters from Paris to Réunion. Covering all current issues in the sector, the 2021 Meetings will take place in person and via teleconferences at MOCA. They will allow the public to interact with a large number of stakeholders, French and foreigners.
A common language and future
The communications sector is seeking to reinvent itself due to the health crisis which caused a drop in advertising investment. Crisis that accelerates the groundswell of the digital revolution and raises acute awareness of the social and environmental challenges linked to climate change. Responsible for expressing brand values, communication is on the front line to make things happen.
The Indian Ocean Meetings, which will take place between May 18 and 21, 2021, aim to define new directions for communication professionals, media and digital in the area. Among the various topics covered, a look back at the difficulties caused by the health crisis, the central square of Reunion Island as a communications crossroads in the Indian Ocean, new forms and growth drivers in the world of communication, responsible communication and brand engagement, communication in the service of relaunching the sustainable economy, etc. At the end of the Meetings, a competition with the theme “The climate : need for air” will reward the best young French-speaking creatives from around the world.
