For Eliedan Mimouni, co-founder of Medadom and telemedicine expert, teleconsultation responds to the challenges of combating medical deserts.
To continue to exist tomorrow, you have to constantly reinvent yourself : it is in this spirit that the Hub Institute teams, the digital think tank, organize Innovation Week, CES 2021 special edition dedicated to global innovation. The objective is to highlight the most relevant initiatives of the French ecosystem, to put the country at the heart of the global digital transition.
In this context, the major player in telemedicine in France, Medadom, presented a preview of its teleconsultation booth on the first day of the event, January 13, 2021. Intended for communities, to schools and businesses and aiming to rebalance access to territorial care, this cabin enriches the Medadom offer which already includes a web and mobile application, as well as a terminal with a range of connected medical tools for pharmacy teleconsultation.
With 700 pharmacies already equipped and more than 150,000 consultations carried out, Medadom wishes to eradicate medical deserts throughout the national territory. A recent fundraising of 40 million euros carried out by the company will allow the deployment of 25,000 devices by 2024.
A connected medical cabin
The Medam teleconsultation booth makes it possible to offer a medical service to patients wherever they are : in a drug store, a public space (town hall or others…) or even in a workplace, in a company, etc. This small cabin is soundproof and guarantees the confidentiality and tranquility of the exchange between the patient and the doctor who speak and see each other.. Six medical devices are included in the cabin : dermatoscope, thermometer, stethoscope, otoscope, oximeter and blood pressure monitor. The teleconsultation takes place with a local doctor specializing in teleconsultation. More than 90% of diagnoses are possible by teleconsultation and can result in a prescription and work stoppage of one to three days.. Support is provided for all patients from three years of age. The teleconsultation service operates seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m..
Medadom, a reference
Medadom is one of the major players in telemedicine in France. Founded in 2017 by doctors, the company considers that medical time must be fairly distributed for the benefit of patients, and that telemedicine works in this direction. By developing an online consultation service, or in pharmacy with its terminal and connected objects, Medadom intends to respond to the problems of medical deserts but also emergency overcrowding. More than 150,000 connections between patients and healthcare professionals for teleconsultations, with third-party payment support, have already been carried out. Average wait time is less than 10 minutes seven days a week. What makes Medadom the reference in the telemedicine sector today.
