Made from renewable materials, the new anti-theft label from Sensormatic Solutions is more than 90% plastic-free.
Sensormatic Solutions is Johnson Controls' global portfolio of retail solutions. Its new acousto-magnetic label (AM), the sustainable SPX AM label, is designed to protect goods and the environment. Still patent pending, this label is made from renewable polystyrene, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This new generation of greener materials helps retailers achieve their sustainability goals while protecting them against shrinkage. “Sustainable retail has long been at the heart of our mission, and advances in manufacturing processes and new possibilities in materials allow us to continue to defend our vision.", déclare Craig Szklany, vice president and general product manager of loss management and prevention and inventory intelligence, chez Sensormatic Solutions. “Many of our retail clients are adopting firmer positions on ecology.. This new label offers a simple and accessible way to reduce environmental impact while ensuring precise management and prevention of losses in stores. »
The choice of plastic-free materials
According to a study by Sensormatic Solutions on European consumer behavior (« Europe : green shopping”), 48,4% of consumers would be more inclined to buy brands offering more sustainable packaging, i.e. reduced packaging using recyclable materials. Changing consumer behavior and the single-use plastics directive, entry into force in the European Union in July 2021, played a key role in Sensormatic Solutions' decision to focus on plastic-free materials rather than recycled plastic.
A versatile label
Protect high-risk items without harming the customer experience : this is the first function of the SPX AM label. Its versatile design adapts to various packaging shapes, so retailers can effectively protect hard-to-label items, avoiding friction linked to locks or cases. SPX AM labels are compatible with the brand’s ecosystem of AM solutions. They are precisely tuned for reliable detection and deactivation.
