Covid-19 has reduced life expectancy
The current life expectancy of Seychellois is currently 73,5 years on average, according to the country's National Bureau of Statistics. It was suddenly reduced by 3,8 years under the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which contributed to 19% of deaths in Seychelles in 2021. The accuracy of the life expectancy estimate is, however, questionable, report the statisticians. The last population census dates back to 2010 and since that date migrations have been able to significantly change the population in certain age groups and comparisons would be distorted..
