A photovoltaic power plant in Desroches
A photovoltaic plant of 2,5 megawatts was inaugurated at the beginning of October in Desroches by the President of the Seychelles Republic. The installation now meets 90% of the electricity needs of this 4 km² tourist island, the largest in the Amirantes archipelago, which houses a luxury hotel of the Four Seasons chain. On his own, the establishment consumes almost half of the electricity produced by the installation, built and operated by South African company Sustainable Power Solutions. Islands Development Company, the public entity in charge of the management of the small islands of Seychelles, encourages photovoltaic projects in these remote territories, until now dependent on generators to benefit from electricity.
