A 168 m2 advertising tarpaulin was symbolically dismantled at the beginning of December on the gable of a building in Saint-Denis, as part of the implementation of local advertising regulations (RLP) of the municipality. The latter plans to remove all advertising panels located in its public space during the year 2023. Adopted in December 2020, the Dionysian RLP also sets the maximum surface area of an advertising panel at 8 m². More than 30% of them, i.e. more than 200, had a greater surface area at the end of 2022 and are therefore being dismantled. Ericka Bareigts, the mayor of Saint-Denis, admits the “loss of earnings” implied by this decision, but justifies it by the balance to be found between “the protection of urban landscapes, architectural and heritage, maintaining active economic activity throughout the Dionysian territory and preserving the quality of the living environment of its inhabitants”
