The Atlas Cove entered the Port de la Pointe-des-Galets on November 23, Welcomed by its new owner, Armament Southern fishing meeting. Built in 1999 in Norway, The 68 m building had previously belonged to Australian Fisheries, Based in Perth. It allows two fishing techniques, Automatic loft for whispest fishing and tramples for other species. RPA is one of the nine candidates selected as part of the Lex Fisheries Management Plan governed by TAAF. The boat has a capacity of 40 tonnes. “This vessel is the culmination of work over several years and represents recognition of our seriousness and dynamism in the Reunion fishing industry”, explains Sébastien Camus, president of Réunion Pêche Australe. RPA's shareholders are the deep-sea fishing companies Réunimer and Atlantis and the artisanal fishermen grouped in the Society of Professional Artisanal Fishermen of the Southern Seas. The crew of the Atlas Cove is composed solely of French sailors and officers.
