Without returning to its overall pre-crisis level, air traffic shows a clear recovery in the 1st quarter at Roland-Garros airport. 408,000 passengers were counted over the period, or even much less (-26,4%) than in 2019 but more than double than in 2021. This recovery is above all linked to that of mainland-Reunion traffic., which recorded more than 310,000 passengers in the first three months of the year, or +3,2% compared to 2019 and twice as much as in 2021. Another line shows notable performance : that of Mayotte, which welcomed nearly 49,000 passengers from January to March, or 23,9% more than in 2019. This progression is not enough to compensate for the collapse in traffic to other regional destinations. Activity has gradually resumed between Saint-Denis and Mauritius with the end of travel restrictions for health reasons, but with 30,500 passengers – including almost 19,000 in the month of March alone – it remains more than four times lower than in 2019. On Madagascar, where only the Réunion-Tananarive line was able to operate over the period, 2,300 passengers were registered. Likewise, with around 1,200 passengers each, the lines to Johannesburg and the Seychelles are still far from the 2019 figures. To note : A total of 809 passengers were counted on departure and arrival of special flights organized in the 1st quarter between Reunion and Doha (United Arab Emirates) to transport travelers to Dubai and its universal exhibition. Goods traffic is also showing dynamism, both import and export. With 6,924 tonnes loaded or unloaded in the 1st quarter, he progresses by 2,6% compared to 2019. More than 90%, cargo is transported in the holds of passenger planes, cargo flights become exceptional.
