The Mascarene Food Bank is developing an internet platform, Proxidon, which allows local food businesses to donate their surplus and unsold unmarketable but still consumable items. The business that wishes to make a donation registers it on the platform ; local associations are informed in real time of this available donation and can make a reservation. Ensuite, the association recovers the donation, controls it and then redistributes it free of charge to the beneficiaries. The implementation of this State-funded system is carried out within the framework of partnership agreements signed between the Food Bank and businesses.. The Leader Price and Run Market brands have already joined the project.
