The launch of the ASSURE program website provides an opportunity to remind people that energy management reduces electricity bills, but also brings the teams together around a common goal of which everyone now understands the short and long term issues.
Carried by ADIR, the ASSURE program supports the island’s industrialists, all sectors of activity and all sizes of companies combined, in the implementation of an energy management system up to the doors of ISO 50001 certification. Support is provided by service providers, with financial support from the program of up to 50%. The fourteen Reunion Island manufacturers involved in this program reduced their energy consumption by 8 to 20%. Trained in energy management, 23 referents currently work within companies. “The approach increases skills and empowers teams and lays the foundations of an energy management system” underlines Ophélie Tlemsani, environmental mission manager at ADIR, who cites the example of one of the first industrialists to be committed, Fibers Industries Wood. With the implementation of a measuring system on its production lines, in order to monitor your energy consumption, and optimization of the energy consumption of its solar dryer, Fibers was able to save 13% on its overall electricity bill. The cost of support was covered 50% by the assURE program and its partners, i.e. 11,500 euros out of 23,000 euros.
