At the end of its plenary assembly on October 4, the Price Observatory, margins and revenues made a series of five proposals aimed at “improving transparency in large-scale, predominantly food-based distribution” in Reunion Island.
While welcoming progress over the past months, the OPMR considers that local brands are making generally insufficient efforts to enable it to dissect the formation of prices. He calls for the establishment of a dissuasive fine to force large local companies to submit their annual accounts and the application of a 2017 decree which requires brands to transmit their cash register data to INSEE.. The OPMR also requests a right to communicate data collected by State services and the strengthening of the means of control of the competition division of the Deets. Finally, it proposes to replace the rear margins negotiated between brands and their suppliers with invoice discounts..
