In order to disseminate global information on the environmental issues of Reunion Island, the State puts the regional environmental profile online (PER). An inventory of the environment (air quality, waste management, natural hazards, etc.) on a regional scale.
Produced from an update of the paper version distributed in 2013, the Réunion PER is now presented in the form of digital thematic sheets covering the following subjects : continental waters, air, waste, soils and pollution, climate change, landscapes, natural hazards, anthropogenic risks and activities, energy, natural environment and biodiversity. It is mainly a tool serving regional players, public and private, to enable them to guide their decisions and actions with an objective of sustainable development. It serves in particular as a reference for assessing the environmental impact of development projects., such as town planning and planning documents, even if it is not prescriptive. This tool is intended to be shared by as many people as possible.. It is for this reason that it is made available to all citizens who wish to have information on the state of natural environments., on soil pollution or even on landscape issues in Reunion, to cite just these examples. The PER promises to better understand environmental issues on a regional scale in interaction with human activities.
