In order to reach even the most remote places on the island, Picard Réunion has partnered with Vivo Energy Réunion, which distributes the Engen license, to open its first two service station sales points in the municipalities of Saint-Joseph and Plaine-des-Cafres at the beginning of June.
At the dawn of a decade of presence on the island, the Picard sign – 500 000 clients, eleven stores, the last of which opened in Le Tampon – renews itself again to meet the needs of consumers across the island. The need to further strengthen its network in the territory leads it to enter into an unprecedented partnership with the Engen fuel distribution chain., for the creation of “corners” which will allow the distribution of Picard products in remote areas of the island. Friday June 3, the first corner was inaugurated at the Engen service station in Plaine-des-Cafres. Four self-defrosting, backlit freezers, identical to those used by the brand in its stores, offer 84 flagship products distributed by Picard Réunion. The second corner of the Engen service station in Saint-Joseph opened on June 11 with more than a hundred references on the shelves. The prices charged are almost identical to those found in Picard stores. The frozen food brand is now planning the opening of two other corners within Engen service stations in the south of the island..
Picard elsewhere than at Picard
“We have always been keen to be able to make ourselves available in the gaps and at the heights, particularly, where setting up a store can sometimes be complex. We therefore had to be able to offer Picard elsewhere than at Picard”, souligne Bruno Guilleminot, general manager of Picard Réunion. More than a hundred products, among the most popular of the brand, were selected to supply these new points of sale with service stations. “It’s about setting up real relays, which will offer a range close to what is offered in our stores, including the special operations that we regularly carry out”, explains Bruno Guilleminot. As for the future, “through this partnership, we plan to subsequently extend our presence to other remote sites on the island”, confides Bruno Guilleminot.
A need identified by Engen
Historic player in fuel distribution in Reunion, Engen has been established on the island for over 100 years through the Caltex brand.. Vivo Energy Réunion now has 35 service stations under Engen license, of which 16 offer stores under the Quick Shop Engen brand. For Engen, the signing of the partnership with the Picard brand consolidates the close relationship with its customers. Managing Director of Vivo Energy Réunion, Hervé Maziau is pleased to “welcome a quality frozen food area within our stations in order to diversify the service offering. Today, it is the coming together of two serious brands dear to the people of Reunion that will make it possible to adapt to the particularities of our island and respond as best as possible to a real identified need.. »
