To deal with the recruitment problem, the Nemo Institute, Parisian school of transport and logistics, launched a pilot class in Île-de-France dedicated to DB Schenker, one of the world leaders in transport. The first training ends in December.
The transport and logistics sector, classified by the government as one of the sectors most in tension, represents more than two million jobs in France, and yet struggles to recruit. Companies in the sector must redouble their efforts to attract candidates and retain them.. Among them, DB Schenker, one of the world leaders in transport, partnered with the Nemo training institute, specialist in transport professions for twenty years, to offer personalized work-study training this year, intended for the company, on one of the most requested functions : warehouse agent. This year Nemo opened this very first TP3 driver class (CAP equivalent) to train future messaging operators. This eight-month qualifying training, started in April 2023, consists of 308 hours of courses at the Nemo Institute, one day a week, and the other four days alternating within the Ile-de-France agencies of the DB Schenker group. The nine students will acquire all the skills necessary for the position of warehouse agent : receive and inspect the goods, validate receiving information and assign locations to new products, store items in stock, prepare and carry out inventories of products in stock… They will also learn the processes specific to DB Schenker. Eleven tutors currently working in the agencies were also trained at the Nemo Institute. Students will take the CACES 1B-3-5 certification in December (forklift operator) and will obtain their TP3. They could, if they wish, continue within Nemo towards a TP4, baccalaureate level training. Among the professions accessible after this training : stock manager, order picker, shipping agent…
The recruitment crisis in the logistics sector
The logistics sector creates some 30,000 jobs per year and must take into account the renewal of retiring staff.. However, the area, affected by the health crisis, the energy crisis or the current changes in professions, encounters unprecedented recruitment difficulties, even though there are many job seekers in the sector : more than 600,000 at the end of 2021. What are the levers of attractiveness for companies and how to increase employee loyalty in this sector in tension?? Each company has its own procedures, seek out future employees from the early stages of their training, via personalized devices, can be strategic. This is the path chosen by DB Schenker, who turned to the Nemo Institute to build training corresponding to its real recruitment needs. “DB Schenker wanted to stand out with a specific class, which allows us to build a pool of young people trained in the culture and values of the company, to develop them subsequently with other training, and also to have a specific reference, tailor-made training for our methods and our environment. We therefore turned to the Nemo Institute, reliable and historic partner, with whom we have been working for twenty years”, explains Mickael Hadjadj, Director of Operations France at DB Schenker France.
