Tagliatelle, spaghetti, twists, shells, butterflies… Whatever their shape or color, we all have a little story with pasta, yes but especially with Panzani, the most famous pasta brand in France.
The beginnings of the big names in French food are often surprising and leave one admiring. This is the case with Panzani. Giovanni Ubaldo was born in Italy in 1911. He decided to take French nationality in 1925 and call himself Jean Panzani.. It’s in Deux-Sèvres, in Parthenay, in the attic of his in-laws that the adventure begins. He makes fresh, artisanal pasta that he delivers by bicycle.. And it works !
At the end of the war, Jean Panzani builds his first fresh pasta factory in Parthenay. The return to the free market and the end of ration cards in 1949 gave him new ambitions... The following year, in 1950, Jean Panzani launches the Pasta Panzani brand with a major innovation : the cellophane package ! Until then, pasta was sold in cardboard or metal boxes.. A mini-revolution in the world of pasta : the consumer can now see the product before purchasing it. It’s an immediate success.
70 years in 2020
In 2020, to celebrate his 70th birthday, Panzani wanted to mark its brand territory in an assertive way by reconnecting in particular with the historic slogan that made several generations smile : “Pasta, yes but Panzani ! ». The opportunity to measure the progress made but also to celebrate know-how and quality commitments intact since the beginning.
