Covid-19 : Piroi transports sanitary equipment
In support of national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies, the Indian Ocean Regional Intervention Platform (Piroi-French Red Cross), based in La Mare, delivers 1,200,000 protective masks against Covid-19, 9,000 medical gowns, 5,000 pairs of gloves and 600 liters of hydroalcoholic solution. This material was distributed in Madagascar, in Mauritius, in Mozambique, in Seychelles, in Tanzania and the Comoros. In Tanzania, it helped ensure the protection of Burundian populations in refugee camps.

The IOC and CIRAD renew their agreement
Last November 26, on the occasion of the Extraordinary Council of Ministers of the Indian Ocean Commission which was held in Saint-Denis, the IOC and CIRAD renewed the framework agreement for the Regional Platform in Agricultural Research for Development in the Indian Ocean, for a period of seven years. This tool for scientific cooperation aims to increase the visibility and contribution of agricultural research to sustainable development in the region.. A first agreement was signed in 2014. The platform, led and coordinated by CIRAD, brings together the five member countries of the Indian Ocean Commission. It participates in the structuring of agricultural research in the area, to the development and promotion of innovation and the capacity building of actors in the agricultural world in order to respond to major food challenges, health and environmental issues that the islands of the region must face.
