WATCH : 38th council of ministers in Mauritius
The annual Council of Ministers of the Indian Ocean Commission was held on May 16 in Mauritius. Maritime safety, health, fisheries monitoring, climate and island diplomacy were among the subjects on the agenda. The ministerial meeting was also marked by the signing of a 5-year grant contract.,2 million euros from Team Europe (European Union and French Development Agency) to modernize the COI and finance its projects. Sylvestre Radegonde, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles, took over as chairman of the commission for a year. The latter wants to encourage the COI to “develop a regional project aimed at facilitating the grouped importation of essential products”.
