With the “M Day” operation, McDonald’s Réunion was able to collect more than 3,000 euros in donations for the benefit of the A.C.H association. who will be able to restart their integration workshops.
With 500 employees, 98% of whom are on permanent contracts : the teams from the 12 McDonald’s restaurants on the island were involved in the “M Day” operation which took place on January 26. One euro was donated to the association for each Big Mac and McChicken purchased. Justine Edmond, president of the A.C.H., was thus given a check for 3,352 euros from the hands of Nicolas Perez de Villar, the general manager of McDonald’s Meeting on February 17. A sum which will allow the association to relaunch its integration workshops undermined by the health crisis. “The situation is particularly difficult to manage, marked by the growth in the number of people in need and the impossibility of organizing public events that allow us, in normal time, to collect donations. More than ever we need the support of Reunion Island businesses to be able to relaunch our activities and support the Reunion Islanders” declared Justine Edmond.
Happy Boxes to collect toys and clothes
Last December, McDonald’s Réunion had also set up “Happy Boxes” in four of its restaurants : Saint-Benoit, Ownership, Saint Louis and Saint Pierre 400. In these large red boxes placed at the entrance to restaurants, everyone could come and drop off toys, clothes and books. No less than 250 kg of donations were given to the association just before the end of year celebrations.. Faced with the success of the operation, the Happy Box has been perpetuated and it is now possible to drop off toys all year round, books and clothes in the four McDonald’s restaurants.
Support for the Maison du Bonheur
Founded in 1992, the Humanitarian Cooperation Association (ACH), 30 years this year, helps the most deprived in Reunion, but also in Madagascar and Senegal. These first two joint operations inaugurate a long-term partnership between the association and McDonald’s Réunion. “Thousands of families come to our restaurants every day, share moments of conviviality. McDonald’s Réunion is happy to be able to stand alongside the A.C.H. by financially and materially supporting the Maison du Bonheur” announced Nicolas Perez de Villar. La Maison du Bonheur is the headquarters of the ACH in Saint-Denis. It provides support and comfort to children suffering from disabilities, to isolated people and families in great difficulty, allowing very beautiful moments of exchange and sharing for the beneficiaries but also for all the volunteers of the association.
