Airport expansion launched
A 13 million euro project started in January in Mayotte. It consists of expanding the facilities at Pamandzi airport and bringing them up to new international standards for hold baggage screening.. Three additional check-in counters will be created, which will bring their number to 16. In total, An additional 2,000 m² of surface area will be created, on two levels. Managed by the French group Edeis, Mayotte Marcel-Henry airport sees its activity gradually increase after the health crisis. In 2019, it had welcomed nearly 400,000 passengers.

Soula Said-Souffou, departmental advisor of Mayotte, recently contacted the Ministry of Digital Transition and Telecommunications to request a change in the designators of the 101st French department. The elected official is offended that Mayotte must share the same international indicators as the Comoros (the 269) and that Reunion (the 262) as a prefix to its mobile phone numbers. He asks the government to contact the International Telecommunications Union so that specific codes can be assigned.
