Mascarin is one of the 19 companies selected as part of the Décarb’Flash call for projects, the objective of which is to accelerate projects to reduce energy consumption through the integration of photovoltaic power plants..
The prefect of Reunion, Jerome Filippini, accompanied by Frédéric Guillot, regional director of ADEME Réunion-Mayotte, operator of Décarb’Flash visited Mascarin on October 19. The purpose of this visit was to learn about the company's energy project.. Mascarin is already equipped with photovoltaic panels on one of its two buildings. The current project will see the installation of more than a thousand additional photovoltaic panels on the roof of the factory.. With this investment, Mascarin will increase its energy autonomy by almost 20%. The expected saving is 72,000 euros on an annual electricity bill of 380,000 euros. The total cost, which includes roof waterproofing work, amounts to 600,000 euros. The aid allocated as part of Décarb’Flash covers 50% of the expense. Return on investment thanks to this help : four years. in parallel, Mascarin implements an energy saving plan supported by the ADIR Assure program. This program helps manufacturers get involved in energy management. Between autonomy and energy efficiency, Mascarin could see its energy bill reduced by at least 30%.
An expansion project
Mascarin needs to expand. Discussions are underway with the Port municipality. Located on adjoining land, the new building would allow Mascarin to develop a new biscuit manufacturing activity. It would also allow the Réunion chocolatier, which makes 30% of its chocolate sales with tourist customers, to develop corporate tourism, as well as hosting school classes. Finally, this extension would also house a showroom for the direct sale of its products.
