The University of Reunion officially launched on April 27 in Vellore (Tamil Nadu, south of India) its “Iliade” project for a Franco-Indian campus in the field of life sciences and health, with seven French and Indian partners. Iliade was selected following a call for projects launched by the French government with the aim of strengthening academic and scientific cooperation with India. Iliade is jointly coordinated by the University of La Réunion and the Vellore Institute of Technology. It offers a course open to French students, Indians or countries bordering the Indian Ocean which will deliver a master's degree in biotechnology. “This diploma linked to an existing first cycle within each partner establishment will lead to a doctoral cycle in more than 10 associated research units. It will provide a university response to the needs for graduates and increased skills of professionals in the sector., while promoting the development of fundamental research focused on natural products and in particular medicinal plants”, comments the University of Reunion.
