The University of Reunion celebrated its fortieth anniversary at the beginning of October. Since its official birth in 1982, its numbers increased from 2,000 to 19,200 students. It now has seven training sites and 22 research units., and offers 200 training courses. In four decades, the number of its teachers has been multiplied by six and that of diplomas issued by eight. Its development will continue with an establishment in the east of the island, with the creation of a ten-hectare campus on the Colosse site, in Saint-André, in a few years. In the shorter term, it will open at the start of the 2023 school year in Terre-Sainte (Saint Pierre) its “Health campus”, where the 2,000 health training students and several research units will be brought together, including the joint diabetes-atherothrombosis-therapies research unit Réunion Indian Ocean.
