From March 1 to April 22, 2022, INSEE is carrying out its spatial comparison survey of price levels between French territories (ECSP). The survey makes it possible to compare consumer price levels between mainland France and overseas departments and regions., between the province and Corsica and between the province and the urban unit of Paris, to products as close as possible. Price differences will be calculated for different consumer baskets, notably those of the overseas departments and regions and that of the mainland territory to measure the impact of different consumption patterns between territories. The previous survey showed that in 2015, prices were higher in the overseas departments than in mainland France, 12% in Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guyana and 7% in Réunion and Mayotte. For food products, the prices of a metropolitan basket consumed in an overseas department or region are 37% to 48% higher than in mainland France. In 2015, prices in the Paris region also exceeded those in the province by 9% and the general level of household consumer prices, excluding rent, was overall 4% higher in Corsica than in other provincial regions.
