Consumer prices increased by 0,6% in June in Reunion, according to the latest INSEE index. Inflation hits 4,2% over one year, particularly due to the rise in energy prices (+26,6% in twelve months) and petroleum products (+34,3 %). This increase leads to an increase in transport prices (+26,7 %), particularly those of the air (+33,9 %). Food prices also continue to rise, despite a decreasing pace (+4,7% at the end of June, after 5,4% at the end of May and 6,1% at the end of April), linked to the slower increase in the prices of fresh products (+7,1% over one year in June, after +19% in May), which flew away in February and March after the passages of cyclones Batsirai and Emnati. The rise in food prices excluding costs accelerates slightly over one year : +4,6 %, after +4,2% at the end of May and +3,2% at the end of April. For the month of June alone, the household consumer price index increased by 0,6 %. The rise in energy prices has accelerated (+3,3 %), linked to the increase in the price of petroleum products (+4,4 %) against a backdrop of international tensions and the fall of the euro against the dollar. Transport prices increased by 13% over the month, driven by high season airfares. Those of manufactured products remained stable and those of food fell by 0,4% in June.
