December 2023 was the third consecutive month of increase in the consumer price index measured by INSEE. Prices increased by 0,5 %, like in November (+0,6% in October).
Over a year, food prices increased by 6,4 %, those of services by 3% and those of energy by 5,8 %. The increase in prices of manufactured products was less (+1,3 %), that of tobacco prices reached +4,9 %. In total, inflation rose to 3,3% in 2023 in Reunion, a level slightly lower than that of national inflation (+3,7 %).
