The consumer price index remained stable in July in Reunion compared to the previous month. Service prices increase by 0,8 %, particularly because of the increase in airfares.
Those of rents, eau, kidnapping, household waste and communication services are stable. Prices of health services fall by 0,9% on the month, those of manufactured products are stable, just like those of clothing and footwear, health products and other manufactured products.
Energy prices fall again (-0,6 %) after a decline of 1,8% in June. The fall in petroleum product prices continues, just like that of food prices (-1 %, after -1,6% in June). Prices of fresh produce are down significantly compared to the previous month (-5,7 %) and thus find a level lower than that of January, before the passage of cyclone Belal.
Over a year, from July 2023 to July 2024, the consumer price index increases almost as much in Reunion (+2,5 %) than in France (+2,3 %). Annual inflation, significantly more sustained on the island than at the national level since the start of 2024, found a similar level in July.
