Household consumer prices fell by 1% in Reunion, according to INSEE. Those of services fell by 0,8% in twelve months, while the prices of manufactured goods fell by 0,7%. Energy prices have for their part fallen significantly on the island (-11%), more than the average in France (-7%). Food prices, on the other hand, are on the rise (+0,4%), just like tobacco (+9,9%).
The drop in prices was marked in the second quarter of 2020, upset by the health crisis and confinement. The indices started to rise again in November and December for all categories of products and services, with the exception of food products whose prices, stable in November, decreased by 0,5% in December (-4,9% for fresh products only).
