Airline ticket prices at their highest

The average price of Réunion-metropole plane tickets increased by 24,9% between February 2022 and February 2023, according to the latest passenger air transport price index calculated by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. The increases concern almost all aerial beams : +16% on domestic metropolitan lines, +27% on international medium-haul, +22% on long-haul international travel. Since the beginning of the year, the only declines concern North Africa and the Middle East. The increase measured between Reunion and mainland France is much less than in the Antilles. In one year, the price of plane tickets increased by 48% from Guadeloupe and 45% from Martinique. This sharp increase is explained in particular by that of kerosene sold locally to airlines.. Departing from Guyana, an increase of 29% was noted between February 2022 and February 2023. The increase is slightly lower from Mayotte (24 %).According to a survey published by Le Parisien on March 9, Reunion is one of the ten most sought-after destinations from France, but also the most expensive on this list. For the next big holidays in July-August, Reunion Islanders will have to pay 25% more than last year.
