Indian Ocean Islands Ports Association (APIOI) launched a women’s platform in 2019, noting that the maritime and port sector is a niche where efforts still need to be made to promote women. This platform aims to encourage more women to join the port and maritime sector., in particular by creating bridges with the educational network, and promote the careers of women working in the port and maritime sector, through the sharing of experiences and the establishment of adapted training courses. In connection with the International Day of Women in the Maritime Sector set for May 18 each year by the International Maritime Organization, the APIOI women's platform organized a seminar on May 20 for women in the port and logistics community of Reunion Island., following which a partnership agreement was signed with WiLAT International (Women in Transport And Logistics). This organization works to promote the status of women in logistics and transport around the world.. It is already represented in more than 20 countries including Mauritius., Madagascar and the Seychelles.
