The Image PME study by the Order of Chartered Accountants shows that Reunion SMEs resisted the health crisis relatively well at the end of the first three quarters of 2020.. They saw their turnover reduce by 1,1% over the period, against -8,7% for all French SMEs. If activity contracted sharply in the 2nd quarter (-14%), growth returned in the 3rd (+7,2%).
In the trade sector, the overall turnover has even increased (+1,4%) during the first three quarters of 2020, compared to the same period of 2019. The accommodation and catering sector, on the other hand, saw its turnover fall by 22,6% over the period. In the transport and warehousing sector, turnover increased by 7,8% on average, with strong contrasts depending on the professions. Local road freight transport is thus down by 1,4% over the first 9 months of the year. The trend is also negative for manufacturing industries (-5,9%), while small construction companies saw their turnover increase by 5,7%, but with different realities from one profession to another. The activity of general masonry and structural work companies has thus been reduced by 6,9% over the period.
