Organized by the French Tech La Réunion association, the first Overseas French Tech Days took place at Moca in Saint-Denis on November 30 and December 1.
Eleven delegations were present to promote exchanges on innovation and economic growth within overseas regions.. A meeting supported by the General Directorate of Overseas Territories, la Mission French Tech, the prefecture of Reunion, the Réunion region, in partnership with French Tech communities in the Indian Ocean region, from the West Indies, of the Pacific as well as international communities. The French Tech Réunion having been designated “Capital” for the overseas regions at the start of the year, it was up to him to organize this meeting. The Overseas French Tech Days aim to create a platform to promote synergies between overseas territories, propel start-ups to the forefront of the economic scene and demonstrate that these territories are full-fledged players in French Tech, creators of values and innovations. But the overseas territories (Mayotte, New Caledonia, Polynesia, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyana) are not the only ones concerned since the approach is also aimed at the tech communities of Mauritius, Madagascar, from South Africa and Kenya. Main themes covered : the internationalization of overseas territories, the ecological transition, as well as collaboration between start-ups and large companies. Start-up founders were able to present their innovations to an audience of experts, of investors and potential partners. To note, among the latter, the presence of the Femme Business Angels club, which brings together 170 investors, and Sylvain Makaya, partner of the investment company Eurazeo.
