The number of over-indebtedness files filed with the Issuing Institute of Overseas Departments (Iédom) in Reunion increased significantly in 2023 (+13 %, i.e. 1,331 files compared to 1,176 a year previously) after falling by 2% in 2022.
It exceeded the level reached in 2019, reference year before the health crisis. Conversely, requests for account rights and consultation of payment incident files from the Banque de France fell last year, according to the 2023 report of Iédom. Likewise, credit mediation was less requested in 2023 with 24 referrals, compared to 53 requests in 2022, which can be explained by a gradual attenuation of the impacts of the health crisis. The leaders' requests mainly focused on the restructuring of state-guaranteed loans exceeding 50,000 euros.. The Iédom VSE-SME correspondent also received 228 requests relating to issues linked to cash flow difficulties and support needs for business creation.. Most of the structures concerned achieve a turnover of less than 200,000 euros, in the commercial and craft sectors..
