Roland-Garros airport welcomed 530,187 passengers in July and August 2022, i.e. 4% more than in 2019, before the health crisis. This progression comes mainly from the dynamism of the mainland-Reunion lines. (345,493 passengers, +11% over these two months of high season) and Réunion-Mayotte (47,240 passengers, +36 %). On other destinations, attendance is still significantly behind : -6% on South Africa, -16% on Seychelles, -18% on Mauritius and -36% on Madagascar. Likewise, activity is down compared to 2019 on international long-haul : -20% sur Bangkok, reopened at the beginning of July, and -23% on Chennai (Inde). As for the line to Guangzhou, operated by Air Madagascar, its reopening does not seem relevant. At the end of the first eight months of the year, Roland-Garros airport records a gradual resumption of traffic on all lines, with contrasting developments. Long-haul traffic between metropolitan airports (Orly, Roissy, Lyon and Marseilles) and Reunion is up 4,2 % (981,336 passengers), while regional traffic is still 33% lower than in the reference year. Only the line to Mayotte — now operated by Air Austral, Corsair and Ewa Air — and that to Comoros show increases, 27% and 16% respectively. On Mauritius and Madagascar, where the health constraints imposed on travelers were lifted late, the number of passengers is lower by 45% and 60% respectively. On the Seychelles and South Africa, the difference compared to 2019 is -17% and -37%. Reopened late, lines to Chennai and Bangkok record much lower traffic (-62 % et -79 %) to that of 2019. In total, Roland-Garros airport welcomed 1,427,253 passengers from January to August 2022, down by 11,9% compared to 2019, but clearly progressing (+149 %) compared to 2021.
