Medef-Réunion marked its 50th anniversary at the 2022 Job Fair through several events, including the delivery, October 27, of the first Apprenticeship Trophies in collaboration with the Réunion academy.
General assembly, CSR Trophies, Learning Trophies : under the presidency of Didier Fauchard, newly re-elected for three years at the head of Medef-Réunion, the local employers’ organization highlights the social as well as economic role of the company, source of jobs and career paths. Medef-Réunion has taken a further step in this direction by promoting learning by awarding Trophies to active and deserving companies in this area.. A first in Reunion outside the world of crafts, the traditional apprenticeship sector in France. Everything changed with the law of September 5, 2018 “for the freedom to choose one’s professional future” which considerably expanded the scope of work-study education for young people recruited under apprenticeship contracts. : the market of apprenticeship has been extended to all training organizations wishing to provide apprenticeship training actions, the maximum age for apprenticeship has been pushed back to 29, the salary of apprentices has been increased, and financial assistance to companies recruiting apprentices with him. This is how it was 11 before, the number of apprentice training centers (CFA) rose to 147 in Reunion alone ! At national scale, the number of apprentices has almost doubled in four years to exceed 700,000 in 2021. With 12,000 apprentices on the island in 2021, apprenticeship is on the rise in Reunion Island. This is what recalled, October 27, Chantal Manès Bonnisseau, rector of the academy of La Réunion. “Apprenticeship is the path best suited to the employability of young people”, affirmed for his part Didier Fauchard, estimating that, in the current period, apprenticeship is the answer to recruitment difficulties in many sectors of activity.
A complete change of outlook
“Learning is an investment”, Didier Fauchard once again considered the place, in today's business, young people who “accelerate digitalization”. Referring to the “skills shortage”, the president of Medef-Réunion judged that the young people trained, in the current period, more choice and room to maneuver when looking for a job. He went so far as to declare : “The job offer has changed sides”. Hence the interest for companies to use apprenticeships to retain young employees.. The time seems far away when, In France, apprenticeship was a depreciated career path, and Damienne Verguin, Director of Economy, of Employment, of Labor and Solidarity at the prefecture of Reunion, welcomed the general change in outlook on learning.
