The City of Saint-Paul, in partnership with Territoire de l’Ouest and France Travail La Réunion, organized the first Forum of maritime professions stakeholders on September 13, presenting more particularly the trades of the marina of Saint-Gilles-les-Bains.
Discovering maritime professions, and more precisely from the trades of the port of Saint-Gilles-les-Bains it was the invitation of the town hall of Saint-Paul. It was mainly aimed at young people, with the presence in particular of the Léon-Lepervanche high school, which hosts two maritime CAPs, and the maritime apprenticeship school of Reunion. But not only since a job dating open to all was organized by France Travail, event partner. Objective of the event : “Inform young people and people looking for employment and professional retraining about careers in the maritime sector, one of the sectors that recruits the most. The national navy and the nautical brigade of the national gendarmerie were there as well as those involved in water sports. Réunion Marine Reserve, which manages the 3,500 hectares of the Reunion marine reserve, also had his trades to present. The Western Territory, with the waste sorting and recycling company Cycléa raised public awareness about the protection of the marine environment. Without forgetting the town hall itself with its services oriented towards the sea, lifeguards, beach surveillance, control of anti-shark nets, etc. In all, around twenty stands allowed visitors to, particularly to the schoolchildren who followed one another in the morning and afternoon, to meet professionals from the maritime sector, discover training courses and obtain advice for a career in this field. The operation should be renewed next year.
