The first stone of a new type of residence for the elderly was laid on March 13 at Ravine des Cabris..
The Béguinage de la Ravine will offer 27 accommodations “organized around a garden and common living spaces, designed to preserve the independence of residents while promoting close social bonds”. The concept of beguinage is promoted by the association Vivre en Béguinage, who wants to provide “a concrete response to the challenges of isolation and loss of autonomy, increasingly significant problems in a population where people aged 60 or over now represent 21% of the inhabitants”. The beguinage is “a habitat which not only extends the autonomy of seniors but also creates a stimulating environment, secure and suitable, where the spirit of neighborliness and mutual aid prevails, underlines Vincent Bel, at the origin of this initiative. The project is part of an approach to living well together, by implementing actions promoting health prevention, the preservation of autonomy and social inclusion”. Future tenants will be able to live there among their own furniture. The residence must be delivered in 2025. The amount of rent is not yet known. The laying of the first stone took place in the presence of several elected officials from the municipality of Saint-Pierre, of the departmental council and the Region, including Virginie Gobalou Erambrampoullé, regional advisor responsible for housing and habitat policy. The financial partners of the operation (Crédit Agricole and Banque des Territoires) were also present.
