The Competition Authority recently issued a sanction of 60,000 euros against the Reunion Island Interprofessional Association for Aquaculture Fishing (Wing) for having organized an agreement on the fixing of fish sales prices and the control of production and outlets. The members of the association are particularly accused of, which has brought together fishermen since 2010, processors and marketers and represents 90% of local fresh fish landings, to have agreed on price scales and promotional operations. Practices which “may have contributed either directly or indirectly to the setting of prices higher than those which would have resulted from a normal situation of competition”, according to the Authority. Aripa did not dispute the facts.
