The general states of mobility were launched at the beginning of May by the prefect of Reunion, the president of the Region and representatives of the Department and intermunicipalities. A citizen consultation began on May 9 with the aim of “taking stock of uses and expectations, identify key projects, identify priorities to improve travel today and anticipate tomorrow’s mobility”, specifies the Region. It will continue until July 23. Based on his findings, a “citizen mobility assembly” will be formed and will work on proposals which will be submitted to the competent communities. The Region is supported in its approach by the National Commission for Public Debate, represented by six independent guarantors.
