In application of article 100 of the mobility orientation law, measure no. 11 of the Interministerial Committee for Road Safety (CISR) of January 9, 2018 aims to combat driving under the influence of alcohol by encouraging road users to self-assess their alcohol level. This is reflected in particular by the generalization of the sale of breathalyzers in takeaway alcoholic beverage outlets.. So, from July 1, 2021, take-out alcoholic beverage establishments must offer breathalyzers for sale near the aisle with the largest volume of alcoholic beverages (or near the collection point for establishments whose main activity is the sale of alcohol). This obligation also concerns online sales sites for alcoholic beverages.. As a reminder, the limit set is 0,25 mg/L of exhaled air (0,10 mg/L of exhaled air for probationary permits). These establishments must have chemical breathalyzers and, in possible addition, electronic breathalyzers.. They must always have a minimum stock of 10 or 25 breathalyzers, fixed according to the size of the alcohol departments. A prevention poster must indicate that breathalyzers are for sale. Drunk driving was responsible for 16 out of 39 fatal accidents in Reunion in 2020.
