The SHLMR presented the Logement des Hauts label at the beginning of April, a 100% Reunionese framework aimed at improving housing in Hauts de l’île. The approach was born from an observation : housing in Hauts, which must adapt to a humid and rainy climate, have design problems (isolation, waterproofing, choice of materials) but also uses by tenants (ventilation, plantations too close to buildings…). The SHLMR therefore asked the Qualitel association to create a housing design guide in these very specific areas of Reunion Island., in relation with its architects. The framework and evaluation tools necessary for issuing the label will be made available to all local stakeholders who wish it.. Beyond technical recommendations, from design to finishing, the approach includes a period of support for tenants to help them adapt to the climates of Hauts : when to ventilate, use VMC ? How to vegetate, maintain the accommodation ? The design of the label cost nearly 260,000 euros, financed by a Housing Action program aimed at the emergence of innovative approaches in the Overseas Territories.
