Zeop takes the lead, one more time, by being the first operator in France offering an FTTR offer (fiber to the room),, fiber in every room. To launch this technology, Zeop joins forces with global giant Huawei.
While the island is one of the best fiber departments in France, with 84% of homes connected to fiber, a new challenge presents itself as uses and equipment requiring Internet develop : one in two customers considers that WiFi coverage inside homes is unsatisfactory. To resolve persistent WiFi coverage issues, efforts have focused for years on increasing the strength of WiFi signals via boxes and repeaters, as well as using PLC to extend signal range through walls. Nevertheless, these solutions are no longer enough to effectively meet the growing needs of fiber users, in Reunion as in France. Zeop is therefore paving the way for a new era of optical fiber in Reunion by becoming the first operator in France to market FTTR (fiber to the room), an innovative solution allowing fiber throughout the house and guaranteeing very high speed in all rooms.
Miniboxes in every room
Different from traditional installations, which are limited to the optical terminal socket (PTO), the FTTR installation extends an invisible optical fiber from the box to WiFi access points strategically positioned in the house. The repeaters thus connected become real “miniboxes” in each of the rooms in which they are installed, ensuring consistent WiFi coverage and throughput of up to 2 Gb/s (according to the subscriber's offer).
