The success of the historic Reunion ice cream brand, Adélis, is based on unique flavors enhanced by almost fifty years of know-how
For François Chan-Liat, General Director of Glaciers Réunis Industrie, producer of the Adélis brand, “our customers are loyal to perfumes, to tastes. Also do something new, oui, but on condition that it is supported by an existing offering of products that have proven themselves. We are cautious about this. We focus first on our sure values with a strong range today of 70 references ! » A way also to recall the unique experience accumulated by the first ice cream manufacturer, by the extent of its range, its equipment and production, not only from Reunion but from all Overseas. Adélis, if the name is familiar to all ice cream lovers in Reunion, the company is less known. However, she will be 50 in three years. It is to the Chan-Liat family that Réunion owes the first local production of artisanal ice cream in the 1950s., with Mont-Blanc sorbets, which many old-timers still remember with nostalgia... The arrival in the early 1970s of local production of Miko ice cream changed the situation. And in 1973 the artisanal ice cream parlor became a company (The Reunited Glaciers) and one of the first industrial companies to settle in the Cauldron industrial zone.
Ice cream with Reunion flavors
“We were inspired by Terre Adélie to imagine the name Adélis” confides François Chan-Liat. A happy choice judging by the popularity of Adélis ice cream, ice creams with Reunion flavors. Adélis is undoubtedly the local number one in ice cream sticks with its lollipop sorbets, his first specialty. One perfume in particular has always dominated the others, banana sorbet lollipop. Other fragrances that customers love, especially children, but not only : the peanut (dakatine) and more recently tamarind. In his time, the tamarind lollipop was an innovation. With guava, they constitute two water lollipops made from fruit pulp (hence the name, Super Free) while the other Fri sorbets are based on aromas. Adélis also has ranges of milk ice lollies, of cones, of jars, from Liège, and a wide range of family bins from 1,8L and 5L. Firmly established in all segments of the ice cream market, Adélis has a first-rate industrial tool. The brand now supports around fifty people. A success more from Reunion than ever.
