After more than three months of consultation and synthesis exercises, the regional council of Reunion adopted on December 15 the program which will govern its economic actions until the end of the mandate. The definition of this “new economy” desired by the new regional majority also responds to the latter’s choice to update the Regional Economic Development Plan, d’innovation et d’internationalisation (SRDEII) for the first time in December 2016. Among the six priorities of the SRDEII is support for sectors responding to the ambitions of the territory. The strategic sectors already identified will continue to be supported : agri-food, the tropical building, the blue economy, digital, renewable energies and tourism. The Region has also identified three emerging sectors which it wishes to develop. : the care economy (health and prevention), aeronautics and drones (projects currently being structured by the Aérotech OI division) and the cultural and creative industries.
