The Réunion Region renewed its partnership with the Institute of Research for Development at the beginning of July (IRD), present on the island since 1987. As part of the multi-year objectives contract, of means and performance signed with the community, the IRD aligns its policies and strategic choices with the research development directions of the Region.
“This contract contributes to the implementation of areas of major interest and roadmaps defined in the territory’s intelligent specialization strategy., specifies the Region, which is broken down into three main axes : the adaptation of islands to global changes, ecological transformations of island systems and the empowerment of populations in the Indian Ocean. »
The IRD and the Réunion Region have jointly defined the main areas of research : health sovereignty (research into vector control devices) and food, which will include the study of food systems and socio-ecosystems, social inequalities linked to food and their impacts on health, social inclusion and sustainability.
