The proof will be given once again from March 16 to 18, in Paris Porte de Versailles, where more than 500 exhibitors from 90 different sectors will be present at Franchise expo Paris 2024. A few weeks before the show, the French Franchise Federation reveals the latest indicators of the model, all progressing. This numerical report once again confirms the solid and lasting performance of the franchise., for which entrepreneurs are showing growing enthusiasm.

Four main lessons can be learned from the inventory established by the French Franchise Federation. The model is progressing on the four indicators which are the number of networks (+3,2 %), the number of franchised points of sale (+9 %), turnover (+15,5 %) and the number of direct and indirect jobs (+13 %). Ensuite, the number of points of sale and turnover are increasing in almost the majority of sectors. We note in particular a very strong growth in the number of franchised points of sale (+9% compared to 2022, indicator already up last year by 6,8 %). Third teaching, the continued penetration of the franchise in all distribution formats is confirmed, and this phenomenon tends to generalize to all sectors of activity. Finally, on a comparable scope, the growth in turnover of franchise activities is significantly higher than the average for overall activity, with an increase of 15,6 %, compared to +7,7% for overall activity, and this in an inflationary context at +4,9% in 2023. This superperformance is seen in practically all sectors.

A source of dynamism for the French economy
For more than fifty years it has continued to develop, franchising has played an essential role in the French economic landscape, by creating jobs and generating added value throughout the territory. The commercial concept of franchising was born in France, and the country remains at the top of the European ranking in terms of franchise development and turnover. This year's data confirms solid growth dynamics, with 951,620 direct and indirect jobs attributed to the franchise. As the new major gathering of the profession approaches, Véronique Discourse-Buhot, general delegate of the French Franchise Federation, welcomes it : “A lasting trend is emerging regarding the number of franchise points of sale, confirming observations made since the health crisis. Year after year, the franchise continues to demonstrate its strength, its relevance and economic impact, social and societal. In these difficult and uncertain economic times, the very significant increase in the number of franchise points of sale proves that entrepreneurs, franchisors and franchisees, have understood the advantages of the model. This increase in the number of franchisees, associated with inflation, explains the very strong turnover performance. »
